What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial Massage is a treatment modality of manual soft tissue therapy that effectively reduces pain and restores function to muscles, nerves, fascia and other connective tissues. It uses relevant techniques, oils and movements according to the client’s needs and response. This leads to the healing process of soft tissue, repairing and restoring functional integrity and adaption back to health. In addition to this, it also enhances other systems in your body, which may have been impaired due to injury, dysfunction or overuse.

Hands on pressure will be applied during your remedial massage, to improve the integrity and function of muscles and your body as a whole, so you can immediately begin to feel the positive, powerful changes that so many of our clients enjoy everyday.

The Benefits of Massage

Massage is for everyone; most people nowadays are suffering from one form of stress-related condition or another. This can be felt as physical tension, resulting in knotted muscles or mental over activity and anxiety, which will then have an impact on the function of your body. Massage can help reduce the physical effects of tension and help to calm the mind.

The connection between mind and body is such that being in good shape, physically affects the mind, and being mentally relaxed helps your body to function better.

The therapeutic benefits produced by massage include loosening of muscular tension, stimulating the circulation of the blood and improves lymphatic fluid circulation. Regular massage can be beneficial if you experience any everyday tensions such as headaches, migraines, neck pain, poor sleep quality, general aches and pains, or you just want to maintain your good health practices.

To care for you own health and wellbeing, a regular massage can relax the body and mind. It can assist in easing soft tissue pain caused by strain, injury or over use such as from sport and training activities or from repetitive movement and posture in the workplace. Relieve your pain caused by muscle spasms, sore joints, back and neck problems by having regular massage as part of your regime towards better health. Massage can be delivered on its own, or it can compliment other forms of treatment such as chiropractic, physiotherapy and acupuncture. Using a combination of these therapies working in harmony together you could benefit from feeling better for longer between your visits to us at Albany Creek Allied Health Centre.

How can Jasmine help you?

Jasmine uses remedial massage with firm pressure to relieve tight and knotted areas. While she enjoys treating the neck and shoulders to help with headaches; and lower back and legs to assist with sciatica, Jasmine uses a specific sinus massage which helps to give relief from common sinus pressure to the face, eyebrows, forehead and head.

She is also experienced in pregnancy care and has a passion for helping women experience relief from the various aches and discomfort during pregnancy. While using a specially made pregnancy support, women can enjoy laying on their front while having their massage.

How can Lorraine help you?

Prior to your treatment, a consultation with Lorraine will begin the process of building your personal treatment plan. To address your main areas of concern you may require a particular style of massage; this can range from Remedial, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Relaxation, Pregnancy or even a combination using two or more of the techniques within your treatment. Lorraine has a very caring nature, and she is very dedicated to assisting you in achieving the best outcome for you health and well-being.

Lorraine can also provide a combination of massage and Reiki, which can bring about a complete feeling of relaxation. Reiki is a gentle non-invasive healing method dating back to the 1800’s, involving either the gentle laying on of hands or placing them just above the body. It is based on an ancient form of healing using symbols passed down by Reiki Masters. It works on the principle of all things are made up of energy or ‘chi’ which flows within us. When this life force within us or our ‘chi’ is low, it can have an effect on the body producing stress, illness or disease. Reiki works by improving this life force ‘chi’ and bringing about a sense of harmony and well being, as your energy ‘chi’ is brought back into balance.
